Ransomware Attack Sparks Resignation Petition Against Minister of Communication and Information

INDONESIAUPDATES.COM, News En – In the wake of a ransomware attack on the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS), Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie is facing calls for his resignation. A petition has been initiated on change.org by the SafeNet organization, urging the minister to step down due to the incident.

Speaking at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, Budi Arie dismissed the petition, saying, “Ah, never mind.” He expressed reluctance to further address the resignation demands, acknowledging the community’s right to voice their concerns. “No comment on that. That’s the people’s right,” he stated.

The ransomware attack, which occurred a week prior, compromised government and public data stored in the PDNS. Despite the breach, Budi assured the public that no data had been leaked. “Until now, there has been no evidence identified, there was no leak,” he said.

In response to the attack, Budi promised thorough accountability and resolution measures. “We’ll clean it up. Just wait for the time,” he pledged. He also called for patience from the public as his ministry works to address the issue and prevent future incidents.
