INDONESIAUPDATES.COM, News En – President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed that the development of the new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), remains a national priority. The government has allocated a budget of Rp 48.8 trillion for the 2025–2029 period to continue the project in a phased manner.
The announcement was made by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), following a limited cabinet meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (3/2/2025).
“Regarding IKN, it has been confirmed that the project will continue. President Prabowo has ensured that Rp 48.8 trillion has been allocated for the 2025–2029 period. This budget will be used in accordance with the planned phases and initial designs,” AHY stated.
AHY further explained that, based on the President’s directives, the current focus of IKN’s development will be on the legislative and judicial areas, including the construction of the parliamentary complex and judicial institutions.
“The Presidential Palace and Garuda Palace have been completed. Now, the focus shifts to developing the legislative and judicial facilities,” he added.
However, AHY acknowledged that certain design adjustments are being made to these areas. He assured that the technical team and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) have thoroughly discussed the modifications.
“The design and basic planning teams, which have previously collaborated with the Ministry of PUPR, have been involved in the process. Some adjustments are required, but we hope to finalize them soon so construction can proceed as scheduled,” he explained.
President Prabowo’s decision to continue the IKN project underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring equitable national development.
