This marks the first time Indonesia participated as a permanent member of the influential economic bloc.
According to Presidential Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesia’s accession to BRICS is a direct initiative by President Prabowo and reflects a strategic pivot in the country’s foreign policy agenda.

Indonesia Becomes the 10th Full Member of BRICS

Indonesia is now recognized as the 10th full member, while Saudi Arabia is reportedly in the final stages of the membership process.
This expansion is part of BRICS’s broader mission to evolve into a more inclusive, multipolar global alliance representing emerging economies across the world.
“This is a direct initiative by President Prabowo. Indonesia is now the 10th full member of BRICS,” Teddy emphasized. “Even though Saudi Arabia is still in the finalization process, Indonesia’s membership is already official.”
